Prayer at Calvary-St. George’s

Prayer is an important part of the ministry of Calvary-St. George’s. We believe that when we come to God in prayer, he works in our hearts and in the world to accomplish his mission. As a congregation, we lift up to God the concerns of our hearts, the concerns of our parish, and the concerns of the world.

Below are several ways both to pray and to be prayed for at CalStG:

  • Our prayer ministers offer quiet and confidential prayer every Sunday during communion. We would love for you to find them in the back corner of the sanctuary after you receive communion, where they will pray for whatever is on your heart. Prayer ministers receive regular training and serve at the invitation of our rector.

  • Each week during the Sunday service, we pray out loud by name for those who have asked for prayer. This list includes people who need prayer for healing or other concerns, as well as those who have died recently and their friends and family who grieve for them. We pray for people by first name only, unless it is someone who has died, in which case we use both first and last name to avoid confusion. If you would like to add yourself or someone else to this list, please reach out to the church office at info@calstg.org, or to a clergy person. Only the name given will be added to the list which is read out loud in the service, but any other details you provide will be shared with the clergy.

  • We keep names on the Sunday Prayer List for two weeks. However, we realize that some people are facing situations that extend far beyond that time frame. You can ask that someone be added to the Long Term Prayer List, which is shared with our Prayer Partners each week.

  • Our Prayer Partners are a group of people who are committed to praying for the parish regularly. Each Wednesday via Realm they receive an email with the Sunday Prayer List, the Long Term Prayer List, and any additional requests from our rector. (Please note that they receive names only. Additional details are shared only with the clergy.) Anyone is welcome to be a Prayer Partner. If you would like to be added to the email list, please reach out to info@calstg.org.
