Marking its 90th anniversary, Awake and Sing! by Clifford Odets—set in the Bronx during the Great Depression—comes alive through its ensemble of voices, each carrying the weight of economic hardship, longing, and hope. The Berger family’s struggles mirror any community trying to reconcile financial survival with the yearning to live fully. Each character embodies a fragment of the human condition, and together they form a chorus of brokenness and resilience, reminding us that dignity can be found even in the harshest of circumstances.
