The St. George's Choir

St. George's Church has a rich musical tradition that has included notable musicians such as Harry T. Burleigh, AntonΓn DvoΕ™Γ‘k, and E. Power Biggs, to a name a few.   But throughout St. George's musical history, the Choir has been central to its worship and musical programs, and has encouraged participation from both church parishioners and those in the greater community.  Composed of professional section leaders and amateur choir members, the Choir sings weekly at the Sunday 10am service, and various concerts and events throughout the year.

How do I audition?
Auditions (by appointment) are held at St. George's Church, 7 Rutherford Place at 16th St. Candidates will sing a simple prepared piece, and sight sing a few pieces. Contact Associate Music Alex Nguyen at stgmusicnyc@gmail.com to schedule an audition.

What is the time commitment?
The Choir meets weekly on Sunday mornings before the 10am service. Rehearsal for the following week is immediately after the service. There is a monthly Tuesday evening rehearsal.

What is the music like?
Our repertoire is diverse, including hymns, spirituals, gospel, jazz, classical and new choral works.

Do I have to be a trained singer?
