Sheila Brandes

Dr. Sheila McDonald Brandes has been an active parishioner at Calvary St. George’s for more than15 years.  She has been involved in the Sunday School children’s pageant for many years and presently acts as a lay reader. 

Sheila received her PhD from SUNY at Stony Brook in British Romanticism.  She is a tenured Associate Professor of English at C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University in Brookville, New York, where she teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in literature.

Sheila and her husband Richard live in Stuyvesant Town.  While growing up in Manhattan, their son, Stephen, attended St. George’s Sunday School and was confirmed at the church.  Stephen is a recent graduate of Yale University.
