Joy Stewart

Joy was raised in a Christian home in New Zealand and has lived in the United States for the past 19 years. She has been part of Episcopal Church communities in Seattle, Amherst, LA and now NYC for the past four and a half years.  Why St. George’s?  St George’s was the closest Episcopal Church to Stuyvesant Town where she lived for her first year in the city. 

Joy is a registered nurse, and is passionate about wellness and the balance of body, mind and spirit under God.  She currently works at Beth Israel Medical Center.

She enjoys showing hospitality and has been involved in hosting/leading/contributing to home bible study groups for many years in New Zealand and the United States.  She sees these activities as an integral part of deepening one’s relationship with God, and building community in the body of Christ.  Joy also teaches Sunday School at the parish.

She has been married to Ian for 38 years and has three adult children.
