Rector; Rev. Gregory Brewer From Bishop Mark Sisk about the disaster in Haiti January 13, 2010 For any community an earthquake as devastating as the one that struck Haiti on January 12 would be a disaster on a massive scale. For the people of Haiti, already struggling with a level of poverty incomprehensible to most of us in the United States, it is truly catastrophic. I urge you to join with me in prayer for the dead and the injured, for those in Haiti who survive amid ruins, and for our Haitians brothers and sisters here in the Diocese of New York, who have loved ones at home. I urge you also to contribute in a practical way by sending donations to help the people of Haiti either through the Diocese or through Episcopal Relief and Development. Faithfully yours, +Mark The Rt. Rev. Mark S. Sisk Donations through the Episcopal Diocese of New York: Send checks made out to "The Episcopal Diocese of New York" and marked "Haiti Relief" to The Episcopal Diocese of New York 1047 Amsterdam Ave New York NY 10025 Make a credit card donation online and type "Haiti Relief" in the description box. ALPHA ![]() AN ALPHA TESTIMONY FROM ALEXIA PAPADOS "I did alpha during my first year of University. I was brought up as an orthodox Christian and had rejected religion, I was searching for something but I didn't want to.. ![]() ....go to a church until I was sure God really existed. More importantly where Christianity fitted into my life. Alpha gave me the opportunity to get all these questions out into the open. It was an incredible environment of openness and freedom to speak out. My opinions where always valued and validated. In such a busy lifestyle, especially living in the city, to take the time to explore the meaning of life and give answers to my questions was such a unique opportunity. Doing the Alpha course gave me so much more than what I could have ever imagined. I made friendships and met people that really accepted me, and showed me love. I saw something in the people and their lifestyle that was very attractive to me. Alpha triggered me to carry on searching, I didn't see things in back and white; there was color in it. I felt peace and hope and didn't feel alone anymore. I had met people that were in a similar situation as me and most importantly, I met God. And as long I was sure of that then I knew everything would be OK. A kind of attitude that has remained with me through this day." The Alpha Course | Winter 2010 | FREE!
